Sunday Sewing

20130818-092956.jpg

I started working on the Metro Rings Quilt this weekend. It is another Quick Curve Ruler pattern designed by Sew Kind of Wonderful. I just finished the Metro Hoops top and I was chomping at the bit to start this quilt. I am using a Joel Dewberry Notting Hill jellyroll. Both the Metro Hoops and Rings pattern use jellyrolls.

This quilt is coming together quickly and I am kind of excited to get the top done, so I hope to get it done soon.

Amy Jo’s Quilt

I love the quilt, I love the fabric, I love the quilting…

May or may not give it back to Amy Jo.

Tillie’s Voile Quilt

Tillie’s Quilt

Today I quilted Tillie’s voile quilt. She made this beautiful quilt for her granddaughter who is off to college in the fall. I cannot tell you how wonderful this quilt feels. It is voile on the front and back. So luxurious! Tillie’s granddaughter is one lucky girl. All of the voile Tillie used in her quilt is available at The Little General Fabric Boutique in Reynolda Village.

Wonderful Voile String Quilts

Pam’s Quilt

Lately, I have received several Voile String Quilts from customers to quilt. I love them! Not only are the beautiful, but they feel so good. All of the ones I have quilted have also been backed with Voile. If you have never backed a quilt with Voile, you should! It gives your quilt such a luxurious, lightweight, snuggly feel. The Voile also quilts up so beautifully. I have a stash of Anna Maria Voile I have been hoarding away for quite a while and I think it is time I got it out and made myself one of these!

Halfway There

I have gotten one half of my Diamond Ring quilt pieced together. I was unsure how I was going to like the dark gray background, but now that I see it all together, I like it. I love the way the colors pop on it.

Sunday Sewing

Do you remember those Sketch Cottons I got a couple of weeks ago? I cut into them this weekend and started on a quilt. I am going to make the Diamond Ring Quilt from Green Bee with them. I got the pattern from Super Buzzy while at QuiltCon. I love this quilt. This is one of the only two patterns I bought while at QuiltCon. I was having a rough time getting the pieces to come together and then I figured out that I had been sewing them incorrectly. Duh-huh! Once I started sewing them the correct way, it started to come together really quickly. Amazing how that works, huh? I had my local glass cutting shop make acrylic templates for this quilt. That made the cutting so much easier. The pattern calls for four 1 yard cuts of fabric for the diamonds, but I used 12 fat quarters (to get the colors I wanted) and I had plenty left over. I could probably have made another quilt with the left over fabric. (also good I had extra because of my initial sewing screw-up) I can’t wait to finish this quilt, but it will have to wait. I am going down to my basement to quilt for customers and I am not coming up for air until I get a bunch done.

Diana and Paula

Seriously, aren’t I lucky to get to quilt all these quilts. I am in love with Diana’s Alchemy/Field Study fabric combo. The colors are so vibrant and look amazing together.
I quilted it with the Diamonds are Forever pantograph. This is one of my new favorite pantographs.
Not too long ago, I quilted Paula’s quilt with it. I am also drooling over the Art Gallery fabrics she used. I wish some of the shops in our area carried the Art Gallery Fabrics. I don’t think any of our LQS do. (let me know if I’m wrong.) The Diamonds pantograph creates a great secondary pattern, too. It shows up really well in the background fabric of Paula’s quilt.

You’ve Got Mail

I was inspired by all of the beautiful quilts and quilting that I saw at QuiltCon and I came home determined to get my butt in gear and get some sewing of my own done. You know what that means…fabric shopping! I got these beautiful Sketch Cottons in the mail today. I can’t wait to cut into them. When Fletcher was a baby, I would stay up late in the evenings and get some sewing done. It was always a very productive time for me. I wasn’t distracted by the phone calls, mommy duties or other things that made me loose focus. (I can loose focus very easily.) Once Nolan came along, I just wasn’t up for staying up late anymore. I am ready to shut it down by 8:00 and usually choose to do things that I can work on while sitting in bed or watching t.v. Things like binding or applique. I have so many things swimming around in my head and patterns and fabrics that I want to use that I really need to start taking advantage of the late night productive time again.

Dreamweaver

Gina, from The Little General fabric shop, put together this beautiful Dreamweaver Quilt, a pattern from the book, “Quilts From the House of Tula Pink”
She used fabric from Tula’s new line, “the birds and the bees”. She has put together some kits in her shop with all you need to make this beautiful quilt. She said it went together so quickly. I loved quilting it for her and I love her bright pink thread choice.

Sewing Sunday

As soon as I saw this quilt, I wanted to make it.

It looks like my featherweight just threw up a rainbow doesn’t it!

I got half pieced together today, but I think I am going to save the rest for next Sunday. It is made using this free pattern.
