Sunday Sewing

I finished putting this Patchwork Chevron Quilt together today. I made it following this tutorial from Moda Bake Shop. I added a few blocks to it so that it would fit on a king-size bed.
I am getting some acrylic templates cut for the Cartwheel Quilt (see previous post) and they will not be ready until Monday. I thought maybe I should try to get this quilt completed while I waited for the templates. This quilt uses fabric from Denyse Schmidt’s Hope Valley and Flea Market Fancy. It is going to go on my bed. I think I am just going to add one more row to the side to make it a tad bit wider. If I get really ambitious, I think I should make some matching pillow shams.

Do You Smell That?

Yup, another quilt is in the air. Chicopee + Tula. If this is wrong, then I don’t wanna be right.

The Little General

Just a little post to let you all know about a great little fabric boutique open in Reynola Village. Gina Pozi-Fornecker is the new proprietor of this amazing shop. You will all love Gina. She is young, creative and inspiring, so stop by and see her. And pick up some great fabric while you are there! (I am a non-paid spokesperson!) I am going to be doing a little teaching there. I am scheduled for Beginning Quilting and a Metal Frame Purse class. Call the shop to sign up. 336-779-6155.

Tula Pink is Today!

Tula Pink is today! She will also be doing a book signing today from 2-4pm at The Little General.(formally Karen Gray Design) She is pretty bad-ass and this is a wonderful opportunity to meet and gather a little quilty inspiration from her, so don’t miss it!

WOW!

You guys are awesome! Thanks for helping me clear out some of my stash! That’s one way to get’r done.
This is all that is left from my fabric bolts. Now I feel like I’ve really done something. It was hard to part with. The mail man had to pry the boxes out of my hands, but I do feel like a huge weight has been lifted. The fabric is no longer sitting there in my sewing room staring at me. Staring at me and whispering in my ear, “use me, make something out of me, I wanna be in a quilt, too!” Ahhh…. it feels kinda good. Now if you will excuse me, this is cutting into the time I could be shopping for new fabric online. Na, I’m just kidding. (there is still plenty left in my sewing room)

Fat Quarters, Too!

I also have this fat quarter bundle that I bought on impulse and it has been on my shelf for about a year. (I know you all never do that!) I don’t know when I am ever going to get the time to do anything with it. It is a Moda Sandy Gervais Lollipop 44 fat quarter bundle. You can have it for $60 plus the shipping. Let me know if you want it!! Email me at ginabean@yadtel.net
I promise I’ll stop posting stuff for sale and start posting crafty things. Believe it or not, I have been sneaking in a little sewing time lately. School starts soon and Fletcher’s Summer Entertainment Committee (i.e. – me) will be getting some time off. Hopefully, my craftiness is on the up-swing and I’ll have time to post more. I know I’ve been pretty stack about posting this summer.

FABRIC and SCRAP SALE!!!!

So, you know I am in the “get the crap out of my house” mode. I have hit the sewing room and I need to get rid of some fabric. It needs to go to good and loving homes, so I thought I would offer it up to you guys. It is all Michael Miller (MM) and Westminster Fabrics. (I have good taste, tee hee.) Could you all handle, say….$3 a yard? Let me know if you want some and how much and we can do the whole paypal thing. I’ll just invoice you. I’ll send it in priority flat rate envelopes and boxes, so shipping will just depend on how much you get. Probably $5 – $10. For the most part, I have several yards of each. I also thought I would offer up some 1 pound (2 quart) bags of scraps like I did in the past. (Because Lord knows, I’ve got some scraps!) Only the good stuff too, ya know. Micheal Miller and Amy Bulter and such. How about 5 bucks each for those.

Field Trip

Today I took my first official outing with Nolan. (I’m talking about going somewhere besides the pediatrician.) You know exactly where we went, too. Of course, we went to the fabric store. Of course, I bought fabric. Of course, I am thinking of starting another quilt. Of course, (as established in the last post) I am crazy!

Weekend Stash

I am loving Joel Dewberry’s newest collection, Modern Meadow. I’m planning on making something special with these.

Making Strides

It has been quite a job, but my sewing room is getting under control. I spent the weekend trying to tame the monster that is my scrap bin. The two bins have now been reduced to this one container. I can’t believe it!
I also sorted and straighten the fabric on my shelves. That was some crazy kind of mess, too!
I’m not sure if I should be proud of myself or embarrassed that I actually have this much fabric.
I have come to the realization that when it comes to my sewing room, I am a HOARDER! The stuff I keep with thoughts of using it again is borderline insane. Why do I need to keep little scraps of fabric or piles of left over quilt batting? Am I ever actually going to have the time to make things with all these left overs when I don’t have time to make “planned” projects.

It might also be insane that I have this emotional attachment to these things. I made several scrap bags today to send and I am having a hard time parting with them. It’s kinda sad for me to see them go. At least I know they are going to good homes and to people that will treat them well and make beautiful things with them. Don’t judge, I recognize it’s crazy.
More to come on the sewing front. I have been in a little funk since I’ve returned from Disney and I haven’t felt like doing much sewing, but now that I am semi-organized I might snap out of it.
