Snowday = Sewday!

It might be snowy outside, but inside it is all sewing! I have been so covered up making things for others that it feels like it has been ages since I quilted. But this weekend, it was like all the stars aligned and created a perfect storm for sewing. It snowed and I was stuck in the house, I finished up all my sewing for customers, and I have this beautiful fabric waiting to be made into something. Perfect.
I also finally got the last Christmas stocking made. I finished it up last night and not a moment too soon. My parents are going to deliver it to my niece today. This will make the 18th Christmas stocking I’ve completed for my family. My aunt made stockings for the whole family when I was little. Over the years it has become harder for her to keep up with all the additions to the family, so I learned to knit specifically to carry on the tradition for our family. With every marriage and birth, there comes a stocking. It is sometimes difficult to get motivated to keep making them, but my mom doesn’t ask for much and I know how important this tradition is to her, so I’m glad to carry it on. I also know that hanging my son’s, husband’s and my stocking is one of my favorite things at Christmas and hopefully it is for the family I’ve made them for.

  3. What bright beautiful fabric to brighten your day. We did not get a single snowflake ….. just rain.

  4. Gina, what an accomplishment! I used to live in Boone, NC and I’m imagining the snow there after this last big snowfall. If you ever get to Boone, be sure to stop by The Quilt Shop in New Market Center on 421. Tod the owner is just the best and I miss all mah quilty girlfriends there.

    Merry Christmas!
