Moravian Stars

20131212-222318.jpg

I learned to make these Moravian Stars a few years ago from the sweetest lady at my church. They require patience, which I don’t always have, but I really do enjoy making them. I pull my box of pretty paper out this time of year and work on a few. It puts me in the Christmas spirit.

You can get yours at The Little General Fabric Boutique in Reynolda Village. Knit One, Smock Too will also have some for sale in their booth at the Heart of the Triad Guild Quilt Show on October 18 & 19. They always have the most amazing quilts in their booth, so be sure to check it out. It is at the Girl Scout Learning Center in Colfax, NC. For those of you who aren’t local, hold tight! I am working on listing some in my new Etsy Shop right now. It should be up and running by the end of the week. If you just can’t wait, contact me and I will make special arrangements with you. Quantities are limited, so don’t dilly dally, ok. New designs and colors are also on the way!

Welcome To Ginabean Quilts

DSC_0008a

I am so excited to welcome you to my new website and blog! I have worked really hard on it and I am so proud of what I created. I wanted a space where people could easily navigate to find information about me, my Longarm Quilting Services, and some of the projects I’m working on. Everyday I get to quilt some beautiful quilts for my customers, and I wanted to share their amazing work, too. Take some time to look around. Good things are happening here! Glad you stopped by, come back often!

Mobile Blogging

It seems now that life keeps getting busier and busier, I find I have less and less time to blog about what I have been doing. Instagram has also changed my blogging habits. It is much easier for me to take a quick pic with my phone and post it, only having to add a comment or not with it. With blogging, I usually have to find time to sit at a computer, edit pictures and compose something to say. I miss blogging, especially since I now come across so many beautiful quilts when quilting for customers that I would like to share. I realize that many who read my blog are not on Instagram and are not seeing all the quilty eye candy. I think blogging from my phone will be a good thing. I am going to give it a try. The pictures many not be as good, but I feel like I will be more in touch with everyone.

Back From Quiltcon!

Quiltcon was sooooo much fun! I am so glad that I got to go. Austin treated us well.

I was so excited to take a couple of classes with Angela Walters. She is a really great teacher and I feel like I learned so much in her classes.

Here’s a little pic of some of the skills she taught us that we got to practice.

There were so many beautiful quilts at the show. I took tons of pictures that I will share as soon as I have time to go thru them. There were also so many quilting “superstars” at the show. Luckily we got to take advantage of many lectures and hear them talk. It was very inspirational. It was the perfect five days that I am lucky enough to have spent with two really great friends. I don’t think I have ever spent so much time laughing. I missed my boys and am glad to be home with them. I am ready to get busy making quilts and quilting quilts.

I can’t end my post without mentioning one of the highlights of the show, seeing KB’s beautiful quilt hanging in the show! (Notice the pretty little ribbon hanging by her name!!!)

Dusting Off My Cowboy Boots…

The stars at night are big and bright
(clap, clap, clap, clap),
Deep in the heart of Texas.

In a few short weeks, I’ll be making my way to Austin for Quiltcon! I am so excited. I was on the wait list to take a class with Angela Walters and they called the other day to say that a spot opened up in the class and I was in! Happy, happy, happy!

Anthony’s Holiday Decor

The Regular Show

Okay- so – we have already established that I am not quite right. So that being a given….you won’t think that it is crazy that for some odd reason, I love watching “The Regular Show”. I’m sure unless you have  children and regularly watch Cartoon Network, you probably don’t even know what I’m taking about (and truth be told, I REALLY shouldn’t be letting Fletch watch it) but it.is.hilarious. It is about a bird named Mordecai and a Squirrel named Rigby and I’m not sure if I just have a bad case of 12 year old humor, but it totally.cracks.me.up. You should check it out!
