A Couple of Things…

So life around these parts has been pretty busy over the last few months. There is a lot going on, but I’m glad to be finally settling back in after furniture market. I have been trying to spend as much time as I can with these two little monkeys and I jumped right back into quilting, as well. I am trying to catch up from the weeks I lost at market. That being said, I have a few things to announce…

First- I’ve added a few new Pantographs to the collection, including a Christmas one called Holly Berries. You can view my new pantographs, along with all the others that I offer here at ginabeanquilts.blogspot.com.
Second- The cut off date for accepting quilts to be done with a pantograph design in time for Christmas is December 10th.
Third- At this time I am no longer accepting custom quilts. I am only accepting pantograph or all over design quilts. I am accepting pantograph quilts after December 10th, just know that they will not be guaranteed for Christmas. I will begin accepting custom quilts again at some point in 2013.
okay- so now back to the fun. Quilting. (I am trying to be better about taking pictures of every ones beautiful quilts as I get them done and will keep trying to post them. Above are a few that I have recently completed.)

200+ hours over the last 21 straight days, and it is finally finished! I’m exhausted, my kids vaguely remember what I look like and my husband has managed his stint as a single parent. Sitting here writing this is probably the first time I have sat with my feet up over the last few weeks. It was a good experience, but I’m glad it’s over. There were over 600 items to be packed in a limited space, so some creative stacking and packing was involve. You can probably tell that from the pictures. Mike Sandel, that artist who creates this beautiful art and furniture was by my side the entire process and made it fun. Surprisingly- there were no freak outs on my part. Now….on to some quilting.

This Little Piggy Went to Market

It has been a long couple of weeks setting up the Guildmaster showroom for the High Point International Home Furnishings Market, but it’s almost over! Yeah! If all goes well, tomorrow will be my last day. Then it will be back to quilting. I have lots of pictures to share with you, but for now I thought I would just give you a little sneak peak.

The Calm Before The Storm

Carrie’s Quilt
I am designing a showroom at the High Point International Home Furnishings Market this fall and tomorrow starts the three full weeks I have to get the showroom completed. During the next three weeks, everything that occurs in my usual life will be put on hold while I try to wade thru containers of furniture and accessories and creatively design a showroom on a non-existent budget.

Close up of Carrie’s Quilt
In the days leading up to tomorrow, I have been busily making my way thru many of the beautiful quilts that are temporarily residing at my home. I feel so fortunate to have as many quilts as I do on my waiting list. Quilting them really does put me in a relaxed state and has allowed me to forget about the stresses of the looming market. Each quilt is just as beautiful as the last. I have tried to remember to take pictures as I get each one done, but I am pretty forgetful.

Amy Jo’s Quilt
Here are just a few of the ones I’ve finished up in the last few days. I wasn’t kidding about them being amazing, was I!?!

Kathleen’s Quilt
Well, that’s the low down on why I have been absent from my blog and sewing and why it will be about a month before I will probably have time to stop back by. I wish I had taken more pictures of things I have quilted, but I promise to be better about showing them to you. I can’t wait for market to be over and life to come back to normal! See you soon.

Must See TV

My newest obsession… Got Season 1 on Netflix. Watched it. Loved It. Now I’m hooked!
Season 2 is on now. AMC. Sunday nights… Love-It!

Little Cuties

I taught another Metal Frame Coin Purse class a couple of weeks ago at The Little General. These are the cute little purses the ladies in the class made. They all did a great job. I love their fabric selections. I know that a couple of ladies in the class have been busy making many more since I last saw them in class. I can’t wait to see what they have been up to.
For the last few weeks, I have been trying to take a little time each Sunday to sew a little for myself. I am going to take a break from it this Sunday to give the boys my undivided attention. Fletcher starts 1st grade on Monday and we are going to spend his last day of summer break doing something special. (I have also been hunkered down all week in the basement getting a ton of quilting done and I need a break!)

Seriously…

Because you know I totally do this!!!! EVERY.DAY.

Thanks for emailing me this, Janet!

BTW – can anybody tell me what the heck “French chalk” is ?!?!

Dreamweaver

Gina, from The Little General fabric shop, put together this beautiful Dreamweaver Quilt, a pattern from the book, “Quilts From the House of Tula Pink”
She used fabric from Tula’s new line, “the birds and the bees”. She has put together some kits in her shop with all you need to make this beautiful quilt. She said it went together so quickly. I loved quilting it for her and I love her bright pink thread choice.

I Waaaaant It, I Neeeeeed It

What do you think of my latest find? I know….I really needed one more sewing machine, but I couldn’t resist. My little 3 year old niece says, “I waaaant it, I neeeed it” and that is exactly how I felt. It’s green, and small and vintage and oh so cute. (Bonus – it works great, too.) I promise, this is the last sewing machine I’ll buy. Pinky Swear!

Sewing Sunday

As soon as I saw this quilt, I wanted to make it.

It looks like my featherweight just threw up a rainbow doesn’t it!

I got half pieced together today, but I think I am going to save the rest for next Sunday. It is made using this free pattern.
