Rainbow Bright

Cross another UFO (unfinished object) off the list. One of my goals for the year is to get a lot of projects I’ve started actually completed. This is one such project.

I saw one that Angela Walters quilted just like this on Robert Kaufman’s website and I immediately knew I wanted to make it. One jellyroll of Kona Solid – bright and a jellyroll of white and wa-la…easy peasy. The pattern is free on the Robert Kaufman site.
I loved the way Angela quilted hers and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to practice a lot of different free-motion stitches. I’m kinda digging it!
After the boys are all snug and sleeping in their beds at night, I have been dedicating about 1 and 1/2 hours to sewing personal stuff. It’s a good feeling to actually be finishing some projects. I have been on a roll lately and have a couple more finishes to show you, so stay tuned. It’s been kinda rainy and wet here and it makes for bad outdoor picture taking, but as soon as it dries up out there there will be some more show and tell.

Snowflake-ish

Kinda snowflake-like, huh. It snowed here last night, so it made for a nice, quiet morning to get this quilt top completed. I made it using the pattern, Designer Star, designed by my quilty friend, Lee. Check out her blog
I got her pattern and the new Joel Dewberry fabric at The Little General. This quilt goes together so quickly. If you are looking for a get r’ done project, this is perfect.
If all goes right with the world today, I would like to get it quilted this evening. I got some new pantographs and I want to try one out on this quilt.

Triad Modern Quilt Guild

If you aren’t busy tomorrow night, why don’t you join me at the Triad Modern Quilt Guild meeting. I am doing a little thang on preparing your quilt for a longarmer. I will also have a little trunk show. You can sit back a be amused by my fear of public speaking. (NO paparazzi, PLEASE! haaaha)
There might even be giveaways…just sayin’.
It is at 6:00 pm at Sewingly Yours in Lewisville.

Finishing at the Beginning

My goals for this year are pretty simple. I want to finish a lot of the projects that I have started and stay caught up with quilting for my customers.
My first finish at the beginning of this year is the Urban Candy quilt I pieced together a little while ago. Here it is all quilted and bound. It’s hard to see from the pictures, but I just did straight line quilting on it and I love how it turned out.

Stacks Quilt

This is Amy Jo’s quilt. It is the Stacks Quilt from the book, Quilts From The House of Tula Pink. I quilted it for her just before Christmas. She wanted it quilted like it was quilted in the book so I tried to replicate it. These aren’t the greatest pictures, but it has x’s and lines and swirls.
I hated to have to give it back to her. I also adore her fabric choices. Especially the Anna Maria feathers she used as her background fabric. Beautiful.

Nolan’s Quilt

Nolan is my quilt kid. He loves to snuggle under the quilts I’ve made. I finished putting this one together for him over the holidays. It is just a simple disappearing nine patch.

Busy, Busy, Busy

I have been in my basement just quilting away. Here is a little eye candy of some of the quilts I have gotten done lately.

Christmas Rush

I have been laser focused this week and gotten a lot of quilting done. I have a few more to mark off the list, but I’m getting there. I have been posting pictures as I quilt on Instagram. You can follow my quilting progress there is you like. You can find me under ginabeansews.

Weekend Workshop

I spent this past weekend with 4 lovely ladies teaching them how to quilt in my Beginning Quilting Weekend Workshop. It went great. The ladies were so studious and work really hard. By the end of the weekend each one had completed a beautiful quilt top. I am so proud of all of them!

Cuteness

I’m not the only one who got some new boots. These two little nuggets did, too. The littlest nugget basically refuses to take them off. He has even resorted to falling asleep on the kitchen floor with his boots on during nap time. He’s hard core! (Am I raising two little rednecks, or what?!?)
The quilting continues. Above is Linda’s quilt. It is made with flannel and it is mega comfy. I quilted it with the “tickle” pantograph and pink thread.
This is Katie’s baby quilt. She is due any day and made this quilt and a pink version. She isn’t finding out what she is having.
I quilted it with the “Outside In” panto and a light blue thread.
