I thought I would do a little post to update you on some things going on in my longarm quilter life.

I have just added several new pantographs to my collection. (It seems as if I am forming a little bit of an addiction to these things.) If you would like to view all of the pantographs that I currently have available, you can check them out at ginabean quilts. 

I have also made a few additions in the batting department. I will now stock Quilters Dream Poly in both Deluxe and Request. The new trend in batting is to use multiple layers. It really helps to show off the quilting. If you are going to be hanging your quilt, the two layers help your quilt to hang nicely. The poly is also nice in that it does not hold those fold lines, so if you store or transport your quilts folded, you won’t get those yucky fold lines in it. I also will now stock Quilters Dream Wool. As always, I will continue to have Warm & Natural and Warm & White cotton batting available. 
My current quilting schedule looks a little like this…
Right now I am on about a 6-8 week turnaround. 
I am taking in All-Over / Pantograph quilts, custom straight line quilts and Modern Custom Quilts.
I am NOT accepting Custom Traditional/Heirloom quilts at this time. 
I think that about covers it, at least for now. (Can you tell I am trying to be more organized?!?)

Mobile Blogging

It seems now that life keeps getting busier and busier, I find I have less and less time to blog about what I have been doing. Instagram has also changed my blogging habits. It is much easier for me to take a quick pic with my phone and post it, only having to add a comment or not with it. With blogging, I usually have to find time to sit at a computer, edit pictures and compose something to say. I miss blogging, especially since I now come across so many beautiful quilts when quilting for customers that I would like to share. I realize that many who read my blog are not on Instagram and are not seeing all the quilty eye candy. I think blogging from my phone will be a good thing. I am going to give it a try. The pictures many not be as good, but I feel like I will be more in touch with everyone.

Back From Quiltcon!

 Quiltcon was sooooo much fun! I am so glad that I got to go. Austin treated us well.

 I was so excited to take a couple of classes with Angela Walters. She is a really great teacher and I feel like I learned so much in her classes.

 Here’s a little pic of some of the skills she taught us that we got to practice.

 There were so many beautiful quilts at the show. I took tons of pictures that I will share as soon as I have time to go thru them. There were also so many quilting “superstars” at the show. Luckily we got to take advantage of many lectures and hear them talk. It was very inspirational. It was the perfect five days that I am lucky enough to have spent with two really great friends. I don’t think I have ever spent so much time laughing. I missed my boys and am glad to be home with them. I am ready to get busy making quilts and quilting quilts.

I can’t end my post without mentioning one of the highlights of the show, seeing KB’s beautiful quilt hanging in the show! (Notice the pretty little ribbon hanging by her name!!!)

Patchwork +

Jenny was a little tired of the cows getting all the quilty love. She wanted to get in on some of the action. Isn’t she sweet!
I finally got the chance to do a little photo session with the cows and this quilt. It is the patchwork chevron I made for my bed. (One of my completed UFO’s of the year.) I completed it in early January, but the weather has been nasty so the outdoor photos have been delayed. 
BTW- That ain’t chocolate milk people! It’s poooooop! Thanks to the hubs for not getting any on the quilt. 😉

Gettin’ It Done

I am focusing on trying to get my sample for the BOM class Kathleen and I are teaching finished up before I head to Austin next week. This has been a fun quilt to make. I have really learned a lot of techniques that are new to me to make it. Now I get to share all those fun techniques with my students. 
Last up is the Lemoyne Star border. This is my first time making Lemoynes and I have to say….not as scary as I thought they would be to make. I’m kinda getting addicted to making them. That’s a good thing, too, because I need to make 20 for the final border. Easy Peasy!

NEW! Block of the Month Class Forming

The beginnings of my BOM quilt
I’m so excited to announce that the super fab Kathleen Baden and I are going to team up to teach a Block of the Month at The Little General Fabric Boutique. The class is going to be the 4th Saturday of every month from March – August from 9 – 10:30 am. It is $25 per month and we are going to be making Kaffe Fassett’s Imari Plate quilt from his book, Quilts in Sweden. The class size is limited and spaces are all ready filling up. Rainbow Bright

Cross another UFO (unfinished object) off the list. One of my goals for the year is to get a lot of projects I’ve started actually completed. This is one such project. 

I saw one that Angela Walters quilted just like this on Robert Kaufman’s website and I immediately knew I wanted to make it. One jellyroll of Kona Solid – bright and a jellyroll of white and wa-la…easy peasy. The pattern is free on the Robert Kaufman site. 
I loved the way Angela quilted hers and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to practice a lot of different free-motion stitches. I’m kinda digging it! 
After the boys are all snug and sleeping in their beds at night, I have been dedicating about 1 and 1/2 hours to sewing personal stuff. It’s a good feeling to actually be finishing some projects. I have been on a roll lately and have a couple more finishes to show you, so stay tuned. It’s been kinda rainy and wet here and it makes for bad outdoor picture taking, but as soon as it dries up out there there will be some more show and tell.

Snowflake-ish

Kinda snowflake-like, huh. It snowed here last night, so it made for a nice, quiet morning to get this quilt top completed. I made it using the pattern, Designer Star, designed by my quilty friend, Lee. Check out her blog! 
I got her pattern and the new Joel Dewberry fabric at The Little General. This quilt goes together so quickly. If you are looking for a get r’ done project, this is perfect. 
If all goes right with the world today, I would like to get it quilted this evening. I got some new pantographs and I want to try one out on this quilt.

Good Stuff

This is my Good Stuff of the week. It is a beautiful seam ripper necklace. I came across these when reading the blog, During Quiet Time. 
These are handmade by Amy’s husband. Not only are they beautiful, but functional. Even though I hardly ever have to use my seam ripper, (wink, wink) I love wearing mine. 
Amy has an Etsy Shop and I don’t believe she has any listed at the moment, but if you want one, just email her. That’s what I did. Her husband also makes ones that are not on a necklace.

Triad Modern Quilt Guild
