Baby, It’s Cold Outside…

Okay, it is really about 90 some degrees outside, but it will be cold outside when Anthony and I welcome our newest addition to the family this winter. Yep, that’s the big news! I am expecting. So I guess that explains where I have been for the last few weeks. Eat. Sleep. Puke. Repeat. No, and I mean absolutely NO sewing of any kind has been going on around here. (And you thought I was just being a slacker and taking the summer off.) Morning sickness, or should I say All Day sickness is kicking my butt. I have a ton of sewing and knitting to do, so as soon as I can get my butt off the sofa, I will have plenty to show you. I have a lot of things to make before the baby gets here! In the mealtime, oops I meant to say meantime, I’m hungry… I gotta go get something to eat. Talk with you soon.

Sunday Sewing

I cannot tell you how long this quilt has been on my UFO list and I have put my mind to it to get it done. Today I finally got the main part of the quilt top finished. Or at least I think it’s finished. I have been ignoring that little voice in the back of my head that keeps saying I need to add another row to the bottom before I put on the borders. I’m ignoring it because that would mean I would have to make 20 more triangles so I could make 5 more blocks. Ehhh. I know that 20 triangles isn’t that much more when I have made so many already, but I feel like it has taken me fooore-v-e-r just to get to this point. The thought of having to make more just makes me tired. I should just slap a border on this sucker and check it off my UFO list. Right?!? Too bad that same little voice is also saying that a pretty pieced border out of all my scraps would be nice too. Oh, what to do, what to do?!? I think I better sleep on it. I could be easily persuaded, though.

Giveaway Winner

Okay, I am not smart enough to figure out how to post the picture of the random number generator so you are just going to have to trust me when I say that Colene wins! Yeah Colene. If you get me all your information, I’ll send it right out to you. Thanks to everyone who left comments and played along. This was fun.

Totally Cute, maaan!

Giveaway!

Giveaway might just be my favorite word in Blogger World. So here it goes… a giveaway!
I’ll keep it simple. Just leave a comment and that will enter you in the giveaway. I will pick a random number to decide the winner. Let’s say we run this thing til the end of the week. I’ll draw the winning number on Friday. Good Luck!

Happenings

Can somebody please tell me who said it was okay for this little bugger to grow up? My baby turned 4 on Sunday. I told him that he had to stay a baby, but he wouldn’t listen. Spiderman was the theme of the day. He loved every minute of it. Right down to his favorite cake from Dewey’s.
We spent his birthday and the holiday weekend at High Rock Lake. My brother and his family came and along with my parents and my sister’s family, we spent the weekend sunning, eating, swimming and having fun. To amuse my dad, who spent the weekend egging me on, I decided to wakeboard. (okay, I haven’t wakeboarded in years. I mean, when I say years, I mean like 10+ yeeeears!) I couldn’t let the old man tease me. So, I got in the cold lake water. I listened to hecklers from the shoreline. (including my 4 year old that keep yelling not to do it. That, quote, “I was tooo old”) And I wakeboarded. I got up on the wakeboard. I wakeborded until I thought I would crash going over the wake. I let go of the rope before I did a face plant in the water. I hurt my back wakeboarding. I hurt my arms and my legs and my hair! I.am.too.old.to.wakeboard!

I need to stick with what any self respecting, too-old-to-wakeboard girl ought to. I need to stick to sewing.

These are a couple of the quilts I have in the works right now. My summer of, get some stinking UFO’s done continues….
good thing you don’t have to lift your arms above your head to sew…
(because I can’t)

By the way, I’m thinking a Giveaway might be in the works!

Quilt Market!

me with Anna Maria Horner
me with Joel Dewberry and Valori Wells
What can I say! Quilt Market was so much fun! I had the best time and met lots of my favorite fabric people. I hate to name drop, (okay… no I don’t) but I will. I met Valori Wells, Joel Dewberry, Amy Butler, Anna Maria Horner, Sandi Henderson, Pat Bravo, Heather Bailey, Eleanor Burns and Patty Young, just to name a few. I totally geeked out and got my picture made with lots of them. (and if you know me, you know I hate, hate, hate getting my picture made) It truly was a once in a lifetime experience for me. When I told my family and husband who I met their eyes just glazed over like I was speaking some weird alien language, but I know you all get me and get how awesome it was. It was so inspiring. I started sewing as soon as I got home. I am so, so thankful to the Boss Lady for taking me along.

Tote Bag Tutorial

Hi All! As promised, I put together a tutorial for the tote bag that I made for teacher’s gifts. It is really simple to make. I put the tutorial together kind of quickly, so I apologize in advance for any mistakes. Also, usually it is just easier for me to do something than to actually try to explain how to do it, so let me know if there is something in the instructions that doesn’t make sense.
I hope you all enjoy it! Just click here for the tutorial or you can find it on my sidebar, as well.

Sunday Sewing

My friend needed gifts for her son’s teachers and she asked me to make some tote bags for them. Things have been busy around here (as usual) and my goal was to get these made today. It has been a while since I have spent the day in my sewing room working on sewing bags and it was kind of a nice change. Now that these are finished, I can focus on getting ready for my exciting trip. My boss lady is taking me with her to Minneapolis this coming weekend for Quilt Market! (Jealous much!?!) I can’t wait. I have never been to Quilt Market or Minneapolis before. We have big plans. Now all I need to do is figure out how I am going to pack everything in a tiny carry-on bag!

Teacher Appreciation

This week was Teacher Appreciation at Fletcher’s preschool. The kids brought the teachers something each day. One day they were supposed to bring their teacher an apple. You can only eat so many apples, right.? So, Ms. Nancy got this one.
It is Heather Bailey’s Fresh-Picked pincushion pattern. Also, the pattern for the spiderweb string quilt pattern that I am working on can be found here.
