Focus Gina, Focus

It is amazing how many things I can get done when I stay focused. My problem is that I have a hard time staying focused. I am a list maker. I make sub-lists for my main lists. I usually fill these lists with millions of project I plan to get done all in one day. Guess what… I never seem to get the things on my lists done. Actually, I think I get less done with these lists, because I get so anxious about all I have to accomplish that I don’t seem to get anything done. In an effort to be more “zen”, I’m trying something new. I am still making a list, but now it only has one project on it a day that I want to get accomplished. I am on my second week of doing this and it has really been working great. I have been getting projects crossed off left and right and I feel much less stresses out. Just concentrating on one thing at a time has really helped me focus and kept me from getting anxious. Not trying to get it all done in one day even allows me more free time to do the things I want to do, like spend time with my family and make quilts. Over the weekend I even got the quilt top done! Which is especially satisfying because things have been very busy around this place. My brother and his wife welcomed their little girl, Brooke, into the world the Saturday before last. My nephew came to stay for the week with my parents and we visited with him every night. Fletcher loves to play with his little cousin. Then my other brother, his wife and their three boys came last Thursday . Fletcher has enjoyed swimming and playing with them. In addition to all of that, my sister’s baby was baptized on Sunday and Anthony and I are the Godparents. It had been a fun, busy, crazy couple of weeks. This new approach to my “To Do List” is working so good I might even take on making some home-cooked meals…. (then again, maybe I shouldn’t go crazy here!)

  2. It’s great advice,Gina, the cooking can wait… one thing at a time! 😉

  3. I’m a list maker too and it gets out of hand every now and then. I just pared down my UFO list to a sub-list to make myself feel better. It’s still huge but better.
